The Shelf–Festival for Artistic Publishing, 2022
The festival was held as a temporary event at the Sprengel Museum Hannover. It hosted around 20 small publishers from the region and throughout Germany, the Netherlands and the US, amongst others. One section was curated by Feminist Healthcare Research Group, Werker Collective (NL) and Sichtbar 2018 who take their specific approaches to the emancipatory potentials of publishing. Talks were held by Annette Gilbert, Chata Sco Palaje and Werker Collective. Book launches, workshops and an artistic contribution from Be Oakley (USA) rounded off the weekend. The Shelf has been conceived and was organized by cultural workers who engage with independent publishing from various perspectives, be they artistic, curatorial, or design-related.
Concept and programming: Nora Brünger, Jasper Otto Eisenecker, Lea Steinkampf & Samuel Henne
Graphic Design: Jasper Otto Eisenecker & Studio Parat, Scenography: Maximilian Neumann
