Internet censorship is still a relevant issue as cases like China or Turkey show. With this project, i want to comment on these developments by pushing the boundaries of censorship in dependence of Lulu, a Print on Demand service.
After i got censored for publishing off-limits gore content, i had to develop different visual strategies to camouflage questionable content. The camouflaged version of the book was republished successfully, because Lulu’s proofreader-bots and -humans weren’t able to detect the original content anymore. To share the knowledge about strategies on how to camouflage books, i’ve put together an instruction-manual, which can be downloaded for free from Lulu.com.
The project is also featured in the Post-Digital Publishing Archive.
